You could call it a "forced remake". The two of them are very different from each other.

I also enjoyed John Lutz writing style. It is expensive to live in an apartment in Manhattan, New York. When watching those films it is nakedly apparent that they were not created to be sequels, but someone thought they could make a little more money by pretending otherwise.
